Q: How did we arrive at the goal of $500,000 for the Daring Faith initiative?
A: We are a church that dares to dream big dreams for God. Big dreams require big faith and big funding.
We have prayerfully and strategically set a goal of $500,000 for the Daring Faith initiative based on the size, weekly giving and expected initial costs of securing a future home for our church.
Q: How does it work?
A: We are asking everyone who loves our church to make an initial sacrificial gift on Commitment Sunday, May 1. Also, on Commitment Sunday we will ask you to make a 36-month commitment to help us reach our goal of $500,000.
It will take all of us giving sacrificially to reach this goal. Please pray about making both a Cash and a 36-month Commitment. Give God a chance to do a miracle in your life. Let him stretch your faith!
Q: How will the money we raise be used?
A: The building fund is kept separate from the general ministry funds. All Daring Faith gifts will be used specifically for building expenses to provide a future home for our church. Plus, we will invest a portion of what is raised for Daring Faith into serving the physical and spiritual needs of those in our community through our partnership with Boca Helping Hands.
It is important to remember that our Daring Faith gifts are to be in addition to our regular giving for the ongoing operation of the church. Otherwise our day-to-day ministries would suffer.
Q: If we raise $500,000, will we be able to move into a building?
A: Daring Faith is the first step in a two-step process. As you know, $500,000 will not be enough to purchase a building or land in this area. However, it will position us to move forward with a down payment on a building or land when it becomes available.
Q: Have we found a potential facility for our future home yet?
A: In the past five years we have looked at various facilities that could have served as a potential home for our church. But because we did not have the funds available, we were not able to move on them at the time. The purpose of the Daring Faith initiative is to give us the freedom to move when God opens the door to our future home.
Q: I don’t know how much I should give. How do I decide?
A: I am reminded of the story of the poor widow whom Jesus honored because of her giving in Mark 12:41–44. When the woman gave two copper pennies – all that she owned – Jesus said,
“I tell you the truth, this poor widow has given more than all the others, for they gave a tiny part of their surplus, but she, poor as she is, has given everything she had to live on.”
From her story we learn three important truths:
Your attitude is more important than your amount in giving.
It is always possible to give something IF we really trust God.
God measures our faith by comparing what we’ve been given with what we have left over after we’ve given.
This is why our theme is “equal sacrifice, not equal gifts.” As you consider what a genuine “sacrifice“ will mean to you, I urge you to pray and ask God to reveal how much you should give. He will guide and direct you (Psalms 46:10).
Let him stretch your faith. Then respond in faith by simply doing what he asks (Matthew 26:42).
