Q: How did we arrive at the First Step Challenge goal of $50,000?
A: We are a church that dares to dream big dreams for God. Big dreams require big faith and big funding.
It’s important to remember that this First Step Challenge goal is part of our overall goal of $500,000 over 36 months for the Daring Faith initiative. But we aren’t waiting 36 months to find a permanent home.
To date, over $104,000 has been given to Daring Faith. But we know that to move forward on the permanent building opportunities we have, we need to raise an additional $50,000 by July 1, 2017 in order to make a down payment and secure one of these buildings.
Q: How does it work?
A: We are asking everyone who loves our church to make a sacrificial gift on Commitment Sunday, June 18 to help us reach this First Step Challenge Goal of $50,000 so that we can make a down payment for a permanent building.
Also, if you have already made a 36-month pledge to the Daring Faith initiative, on Sunday, June 18 we will ask you to recommit to (or even increase if you feel God leading you to do so) your commitment to the remaining 24 months of Daring Faith to help us hit our overall goal of $500,000.
If you have not yet made a pledge to the Daring Faith initiative, on Sunday, June 18 we will ask you to make a one-time sacrificial gift to help us reach our First Step Challenge Goal of $50,000… and prayerfully make a monthly commitment to the remaining 24 months of Daring Faith to help us hit our overall goal of $500,000.
It will take all of us giving sacrificially to reach this goal. Please pray about making both a Cash and a 36-month Commitment. Give God a chance to do a miracle in your life. Let him stretch your faith!
Q: How will the money we raise be used?
A: The building fund is kept separate from the general ministry funds. All First Step Challenge Goal gifts and Daring Faith gifts will be used specifically for building expenses to provide a future home for our church.
It is important to remember that our Daring Faith gifts are to be in addition to our regular giving for the ongoing operation of the church. Otherwise, our day-to-day ministries would suffer.
Q: If we raise $50,000 for our First Step Challenge Goal, will we be able to move into a building?
A: It will require the full commitment of our church to the full 36 months of the Daring Faith initiative in order for our church to ultimately secure our future home.
However, if we hit our goal of $50,000 for the First Step Challenge Goal, we expect to be able to secure one of the building options we are pursuing (or perhaps even a 3rd option that God has for us that we aren’t aware of yet).
With the faithful giving of our church, and God’s blessing, it’s possible that we could be in a permanent home by the end of 2017 or the start of 2018.
Q: Where are the potential facilities that we are looking at?
A: In the past six years we have looked at dozens of potential buildings for our church to call home. God has recently opened the doors at two facilities that we believe are very good options for our church.
Both buildings are in the heart of Boca Raton, within minutes of Boca Raton High School. As we are still negotiating terms with both, we have not yet disclosed the address of these buildings. However, in the near future we are planning several Open House Prayer Meetings for you to be able to tour the space with Pastor Jason.
Of course, it is also possible that God will open a 3rd building option for our church as well. So, as we prayerfully move forward on both building opportunities that we have now, we are also keeping an eye open for other options that God may open to us.
Q: I don’t know how much I should give. How do I decide?
A: I am reminded of the story of the poor widow whom Jesus honored because of her giving in Mark 12:41–44. When the woman gave two copper pennies – all that she owned – Jesus said,
“I tell you the truth, this poor widow has given more than all the others, for they gave a tiny part of their surplus, but she, poor as she is, has given everything she had to live on.”
From her story we learn three important truths:
Your attitude is more important than your amount in giving.
It is always possible to give something IF we really trust God.
God measures our faith by comparing what we’ve been given with what we have left over after we’ve given.
This is why our theme is “equal sacrifice, not equal gifts.” As you consider what a genuine “sacrifice“ will mean to you, I urge you to pray and ask God to reveal how much you should give. He will guide and direct you (Psalms 46:10).
Let him stretch your faith. Then respond in faith by simply doing what he asks (Matthew 26:42).
