What to Expect

What will your first time at The Journey be like?

We want your first experience at The Journey to be relaxed, and for you and your family to enjoy the service.

Check out this video for a quick overview from Pastor Jason.   And keep reading below to have your questions answered about what to expect the first time you join us at The Journey!

What time is the service?

The Journey meets In-Person on Sundays at 9:30am or 11:00am, and Online on Sundays at 9am, 11am, 1pm (plus additional online service times).  The service lasts just over an hour.  We encourage you to arrive 10-15 minutes early, especially if you have young children.  This will give you plenty of time to check your children into Journey Kids and for you to find a good seat in the Worship Center prior to the service starting.

Where is The Journey?

The Journey is located at:
2200 NW Boca Raton Blvd., Boca Raton, FL
(between Glades Rd. and Spanish River Blvd, beside Maui Spa)

  • From I-95 north, take exit 48 for Spanish River Blvd, and turn right to go south on NW Boca Raton Blvd.
  • From I-95 south, take exit 45 for Glades Rd, and turn left to go north on NW Boca Raton Blvd.

What should I do when I arrive?

When you arrive, you will find clear signage and our friendly volunteers there to help direct you. If you have children ages birth through 5th grade, then just follow the signs to our Journey Kids check-in area in the main lobby.

You will receive a program and a pen on your way into the service.  This program will include message notes, important information, and a connection card, which you will turn in at the end of the service.

And on your way in, if you have questions, just look for one of our courteous volunteers in a Journey t-shirt. They’re easy to spot and always happy to help!

How should I dress?

We care more about you than with what you wear, so the dress is always casual.  At The Journey, you will find many people wearing shorts and sandals.  Dress how you are most comfortable, and you will fit right in – shorts and suits are equally welcomed.

What are the messages like?

Our goal every Sunday is to teach the timeless truths of the Bible in a way that is engaging and applicable to your life. You will find that the messages are practical, easy to understand, and grounded in Scripture.

What about the music?

The music at The Journey is upbeat, modern, and uplifting!  The Journey features a live band with electric guitar, bass, keyboard, and drums every week. We sing modern songs of faith, but you might also hear a Top 40 song or a classic hymn. Think your favorite rock station with a twist.

What's available for my kids?

The Journey offers a clean, safe and exciting children’s program during the 9:30am and 11:00am worship services for your children, birth to 5th grade.

As you enter the main lobby, you will see the Journey Kids check-in area to the left. Check in for Nursery - 2nd grade is on the first floor. If your child is in 3rd-5th grade, or in middle school, take the elevator in the lobby to the 2nd floor where you will see the check-in area directly in front of you.

At check-in, you will meet one of our fully-trained and background-checked Journey Kids Team members who will help you check your child in.

During check-in, you will receive a security tag, which you will need to pick up your child after the service.  This helps us know that you are the person authorized to pick up your child.

Journey Kids is staffed solely by members in good standing at The Journey, who have been background checked and receive ongoing training to make your children’s experience the best it can be!

During Journey Kids and EPIC, your children will experience fun Bible lessons, activities and games to help them build a spiritual foundation.  Simply stated: we want this to be the best hour of your child’s week!

What's available for my Middle and High School Students?

During the 11:00am service, your middle school students (grades 6-8) are invited to an environment designed just for them! Fun games, great music, and discussions on the Bible and faith are just a few of the exciting things happening at EPIC!

This is a great way to connect with other students from The Journey Church who attend schools from all around the area–while growing spiritually.

EPIC is located on the 2nd floor.  Upon entering the main lobby of The Journey, take the elevator on the left to the 2nd floor. Check-in for EPIC will be directly in front of you as you step off the elevator.

High school students are invited to attend the worship service on Sundays as the music and the topics covered will be interesting and engaging for teenagers.  Then, join the Student Growth Group which meets during the week throughout the year.

What's available during the week?

During the week, The Journey's Growth Groups meet online and at convenient locations throughout South Palm Beach and Broward counties.  Growth Groups are groups of 15-20 people who join together to study the Bible, grow spiritually, meet new people and have fun.

Growth Groups last 10-12 weeks, so it's a short-term commitment.  Growth Group sign-ups occur 3 times per year (January, May, September).

How did The Journey get started?

Lead Pastor Jason Hatley and his wife Karen moved to Boca Raton in the summer of 2010 to start The Journey Church. Jason served as a pastor of The Journey Church in Manhattan for nearly a decade prior to feeling called to start The Journey’s newest location here in South Florida.

On February 13, 2011, The Journey celebrated the start of weekly services.

And on Easter Sunday, April 21, 2019 The Journey celebrated the Grand Opening of is Ministry and Worship Center in the heart of Boca Raton.

Today, hundreds of people call The Journey home, while Growth Groups meet every week throughout South Florida.

God has blessed our church thus far, not only here in Boca Raton, but also at our campuses in New York City. Our church is growing steadily, serving the community and sharing Christ with the people of South Florida along the way.

And we believe that the best days are still ahead!
